Apply for Pupil Premium

Successfully applying for pupil premium raises £1,300 for the school each year and could save your family £2,000 per child over their time in the school.  Read below for more details of the benifits for you and the school if you apply.  You can also read our Pupil Premium Leaflet.  Register online or use our registration form below: Free_school_meals_and_pupil_premium_registration_form

The pupil premium is an important part of the funding for the school.  It pays for our Nurture Group, free access to after school activities and educational visits for children in receipt of the funding.  Very importantly, it pays for a good proportion of the teaching assistants who work across the school, benefiting all children.

In Cambridgeshire last year, 20% of children entitled to Pupil Premium Funding did not apply.  If that were the case for St Matthew’s then the school would be losing out on about £20,000 of extra funding.  There is a danger with the introduction of Universal Free School Meals from next September that more parents whose children are entitled will not register, costing the school £1,300 for each child.  With Cambridgeshire schools currently the worst funded in the country, losing funding like this will have an impact on your child’s education.

This is why it is very important for all of the children in the school that everyone who can apply for Pupil Premium Funding does so.  You can apply and not take up the meal if you wish – the school would still get the funding to support the education of the children in the school, and you get so much more than just a free meal:

  • Free Educational Visits

  • Free Residential Trips

  • Free access to After School Activities

  • Free School Meal and Free Packed Lunch when on Educational Visits

  • Support the school to provide good quality education for all children.

If your child were registered throughout his or her time at St Matthew’s, you would be saving your family over £2,000.
